How does the water removal process in Lakeland work?
Water Removal Services in the Lakeland area
Have you ever come home from work or woken up in the middle of the night and found a puddle of water around your kitchen or bathroom sink? Using a broom or mop to push the water out the door might seem like a good idea, but the bulk of the water can quickly prove to be too much. The emergency water damage service provided by the technicians at SERVPRO of Bartow/Lakeland Highlands solves this problem. Our technicians have been trained to work in teams, so mitigating issues like water damage can be the most effective way to protect your Lakeland area home.
Every water disaster is different, from the amount of water to the level of contamination of the water. Each scenario requires a unique solution, but the general process stays the same. The steps listed below illustrate our process for the “typical” water damage emergency.
Our Water Damage Restoration Process:
- Step 1: Emergency Contact
- Step 2: Inspection and Damage Assessment
- Step 3: Water Removal/Water Extraction
- Step 4: Drying and Dehumidification
- Step 5: Cleaning and Repair
- Step 6: Restoration
How does the water removal process work?
We use high-powered submersible pumps to pull the water out of your home at a rapid rate and then switch to smaller units that can remove water from tighter spaces, like along baseboards and under cabinets. Water can get into interior walls because of the force behind the water just keeps pushing it until it has nowhere to go. Once inside, the water has nowhere else to go. Without the force behind it to push it out, it just sits there. We apply force by removing the baseboards and then drilling weep holes, so the water can escape. We remove this water and then force warm, dry air into the same space. This will dry the wall out from the inside, making it less likely to damage the walls permanently.
We will also dispose the damaged materials and belongings, with permission of course. We do this to not only protect your property from the increased risk of water damage, but to also reduce the effects of moisture on the microbial population inside of your property. If you still have water and wet property, it will continually give off moisture into the air, which increases the water vapor amount. Odors from the chemical reactions are also something to be prepared for, so our Odor Control Technician (OCT) is trained and ready to mitigate these potential problems.
